Maitreya Thangka
Maitreya is the “future Buddha” who will eventually manifest on earth, attain full enlightenment, and convey the pure dharma. He will therefore be the historical Shakyamuni Buddha’s spiritual heir.
Maitreya Thangka , he is depicted wearing the saffron-colored robes of a monk, symbolizing renunciation and detachment from worldly desires. He may be adorned with various jewels and ornaments, representing his divine qualities and spiritual attainment. Maitreya often displays the Dharma wheel mudra, where his hands are held at the heart level with the thumbs and index fingers forming a circle. This mudra symbolizes the turning of the wheel of teaching. Maitreya may also hold a lotus flower, a symbol of purity and enlightenment.
